Thanks guys. James it has separate rotary volume, balance, bass and treble. It also has manual rec volume knobs and line in. These units are definitely not stripped down and is an AKA of my CEC here. This black model is the rarest and I only seen this one and possibly one other on eBay over my last six years of collecting :-)

The silver looks poor bastardo compared to the black. And the black looks like having double ( at least) the size of the LEDs.....
Anyway, silver tech stuff always been for non profi stuff. The real deal is in black :-D

Yeah the CEC is the cheapest made of the AKA's. The glass on deck door is thinner, the LEDs are cheaper, the handle ends are plastic as opposed to metal but all the components are exactly same. Plus CEC is only one with color blue decals all others are red. Here are more AKA's :-)

None of them have tweeters, do they? If not, then it's nice how the black one doesn't have those fake grills, they're silly IMO, and detract from the look.

No tweeters just full range speakers but highs and bass response is excellent in these units. I actually like the fake horn tweeters on my CEC for aesthetics :-)

The CEC was your first box right????


The CEC was actually my 3rd stereo boombox back in early 80's. My first 2 was a Panasonic RX5010 which I had for a couple months before returning it for a 3 piece Lennox Sound which that as well I only had for a couple months returning it :lol:

I do wonder how many black units were made especially since it's a dual voltage unit (CEC is only 120v). I just looked on Internet and found only one pic of the black unit which I believe was taken by Uncle Ed when he owned it :-)
