Magnavox d8443 electric problem

The D8443 was my first box.. since i got it, i managed to put my hands on 4 other boxes for a total of 30$ spent. I repaired all the cassette decks but i still have a problem with my magnavox. The mecanism of the deck is mint and everything rolls but there is a problem. When i put the TAPE ON option, the motor tuns for about 1 sec and stops.. the connection fails and i dont know here to look.

Does take up reel spin? These are well known issues with a gear going bad in these and needs replacement.

Check the wires inside, the connections are quite flimsy, IIRC, the wire ends are just pushed inside the tiny connectors. Also check for corrosion in the "REM" (mic remote) hole on the side connector panel. Could be something in the mech also.

Its been a while since I cleaned the mech in my D8444, so I didn't check it thoroughly, because it was working.
