My c-100f has developed a nasty problem: the left channel is popping and making scratchy noises in any function. I have been using it connected to a technics turntable, and isolated the issue down to the boombox itself. It is an intermittent problem, sometimes not audible but other times the entire channel blanks and comes back with pop. Any ideas on troubleshooting or repair?

Welcome to World's best site for Boomboxes! :hi:

Intermittent problems like this always lead to switch and contact issues caused by oxidation. Switch cleaning and cleaning contact points by Deoxit should solve it.

I actually already sprayed all pots with cleaner, then flipped it back and forth repeatedly, i'm scared because it didn't help at all :(

My guess: One HA1392 amp on it's way out. Another victim of high power in amp modules not designed for BTL operation coupled with low impedance driver combination.
Is replacement possible? I believe I may have access to all the tools needed, but in the past I have had terrible luck replacing components, nothing ever seems to work.

I had a similar problem and cleaned everything within an inch of it's life and the problem persisted.

I then went about replacing the amp chips and that still didn't fix it.

After taking it to my repairer he diagnosed voltage leaking out of the mode selector.

He rejigged it and rewired it slightly and the problem's gone.

I'm not saying it's not the amp chips dying, or indeed just in need of a good clean but there are at
least three avenues to try.

Good luck!

Rock On.

Fairly new to the site, is there a listing of recommended repair places? I had a guy try to fix a cheap sanyo of mine once, didn't do a good job. I'm in NYC, so should be possible, right?
