I purchased a Sharp GF-9595 from seller volodymyry123.
item id: 190878503698
This seller currently has other boomboxes on ebay.

Boombox arrived today, packed very well!

But, it has extensive water damage.
all chrome and all metal has pockmarks from mold.
grill has some rust that was Not visible in Ebay ad. (?)
All connectors have rust.
Inside the tape door is more rust, and mold.
Mild spores are actually coming out the cracks in the bottom of the boombox.

No mention of the mold in the ad, and I have allergies to mold. :(

To make matters worse, our Grandma got sick smelling it, and ordered it out of the house. It is on the porch now , in a sealed box. Any takers? Trash pickup is Friday.

Seller's ad says no returns accepted, but I will try returning it, thanks for the suggestion. If I can not return it I will offer it up for parts, in the for sale area.

why trash it ?
put a big heavy duty garbage bag over it -
and return if for a full refund

That's what I would do  I hate when sellers don't reveal stuff or show in pics. I especially hate when they don't have pics of actual item for sale :nonono:

I checked the MW band and it works great with out any problems. I do not know about the other bands.
In other words, it can't pick up FM stereo, and he doesn't want to say so

How sad! :(

Don't leave that crook alone! Contact him for a full refund and notify EBay for this cheating!
He shouldn't do this to other folks.

Damn people! How can someone cheat like this? Crooks! :(

How disappointing it is to open a nicely packed box and see crap inside?

I was thinking of this happening to me when I hide from my wife all day long and open it in the garage when she is fast asleep. I would have fainted there!

Thanks everyone and ira, who convinced me that ebay rules trump a dishonest seller.
I was able to get a full refund for the sharp 9595 box thanks to ebay. seller was ignoring most of my emails all through the process.
I think the seller may be foreign ? unable to read much english ?

I never did try to turn the radio on. I did not want to kick up the mold spores which were making everyone sick. it went in a plastic bin stored 10 feet from the house, then grandma moved it to 30 feet because she could still smell the mold.

anyone who buys it should know that mold never goes away.. only lies dorment at best.

even still, all the chrome is pock-marked due to the water damage. Similar to the bumpers on old cars in New York, where salt eats away at the metal.

 it was listed as JVC M90 model. What an idiot trying to use M90 in a search :nonono:Bad Boy Bill
You mean the seller did that AGAIN? It was that way when I bought it last time!
it gives someone an out though, a way to cancel a purchase. they can say they were just buying what they thought was a sharp jvc m90, for their friend, who likes jvc boomboxes. :)

I think Vintage Man is going through with the sale..... :hmmm:
Shipping to Canada as well? That box is heavy, it will not be cheap. if he has to return it.

In my opinion, this sharp 9595 is overpriced and is in non-collectible condition. Search your local landfill with a shovel if you really need a box like this.

Hmmm....well, I bought tons of stuff from the US on ePrey, sold tons of stuff to US buyers, on ePrey & I live across the river from Detroit in Windsor, Ontario so yeah, its not that bad at all & definitely Au. shipping is more costly, takes longer, etc. Personally, I hate these types of comments 'cause it discourages members from selling to us Canucks but hey, people have their opinions, I guess. I've had no problems at all. If you know what you are doing as a buyer or seller then it isn't an issue at all. VintageMan is a good bloke & no dummy so yeah, of course he didn't see this before buying it.

My statement is true as I've shipped and received boxes from both Australia and Canada. I shipped an M70 to Canada and cost was over $100 and took over a week then I shipped quite a few to Australia of same size and weight and it cost about same and took less than week. I also shipped my 777 to Canada and it cost almost $200. So yes shipping to and from Canada is more costly than shipping to other side of World. My comment shouldn't discourage anyone because when a collector really wants something they usually will pay shipping no matter the cost

By the way I have nothing against vintageman buying unit but we are all looking out for each other. That is why these posts are made and since you are his friend you should also help to discourage the buying of a junk box that will cost a bundle to ship back to seller
