Hey guys, I need advice on what to do with my Hitachi's fading sound :hmmm: When you switch the radio on, you get full volume, after a few minutes of it running, the volume slowly dies and the LED's fade until you can no longer hear it. If you then switch it off and back on the sound comes back to normal, but the same thing happens again after :evilmad:

It's driving me nuts!!! :annoyed: Any one out there with an idea on how to fix this problem. Thanks.

The power switch is very dirty and needs a real good cleaning. Same thing happened on other one I worked on for you. You will need to take it completely apart to get to switch. Also these models have a dual power switch with one being a micro switch next to power switch that is usually the one that is causing most of issues ;-)

These units with all the switches, sliders and pots on top get the most dirt and stuff inside them and really need a good tear down and cleaning ;-)

you could check the tuner board and turn some of the screws on the tuner pots , just mark the starting positions first then turn each one left and then right a half turn ,returning it back to the original position afterwards, sometimes a small amount of buildup accumulates and affects reception, turning the screws will improve contact inside the pots.

i did this on mt trc 920 and it greatly improved the tuner performance because it had virtually no reception before that but now picks up fine with no drifting of the tuner .

I still think its in the micro switch. It's very hard to get contact cleaner inside of these. Its usually black and sits next to the power/function switch. I had to remove the actual switch from one of my Sanyos in order to clean it ;-)
