Hi,I have 3 Sharp GF-9797's,2 E's and a regular US version with line-in.
Well the most recent one has the AM on 4mhz.increments instead of 5 like my others. Also the clock is on 24hr.time not AM or PM like my others.
Is there an adjustment for these step settings?
If there is where is it?

I just need the Bronze HB model now!:)
I really like my digital Sharps!
I just may need another 1 or 2 9595's now!!:)
Anyone know if there is a setting? I think the 9595's do.:/
:)

There must be an adjustment since the E versions should be on 9KHz increments so if yours are at 4 or 5 - both strange since the USA uses 10KHz increments - then someone must already have adjusted it. ;-)

The adjustment - where it's not in a key sequence like it is in some car audio - is in a jumper setting on the am IF board, the manual will tell you which jumper to move and from/to which pins it wants moving.

It's on 10 for FM and like 5 for AM.
I'm getting a manual so I can adjust it.
I guess I'm used to AM/PM and AM is not lining
up for my US stations.
There never is anything in my part of the country
for LW.
Thanks for letting me know that Beosystem.:)

Hey John, after looking at this box again it is in the 9mhz. step setting for AM and LW.
It's in 5mhz. setting for FM which us ok as it still hits the 10's!:)
But I'd like to adjust this to the 10Mhz. setting for Am & LW.
I need to pick up that manual!:)

So it's a European & UK spec set then. The steps are 9KHz though, so it'll go from 1606 at the short end all the way to 526 at the long end.
FM should be 0.5MHz for the states, so a Euro-spec FM tuner will work there but a US-spec one won't pick up anything that's not on a multiple of 0.5MHz if used over here, not a problem in this case and from what I can gather, the setting for am is made with a jumper similar to the type found on motherboards and drives in some desktop PCs.

I have the manuals for Sharp
GF-1740
GF-330
GF-4646
GF-500
GF-555
GF-575
GF-777
GF-780
GF-800
GF-8787
GF-8989
GF-9000
GF-9292X
GF-9494
GF-9595
GF-9696
VZ-2500

Anyone else who belongs to hifi engine can sign in and download those.

Does anyone know which other PLL model shares the tuner architecture of the O/P's radio?

Yes General Electric makes a model that is almost identical to the 9797.
Digital boomboxes are somewhat rare and
Expensive back in the day!
I heard that the 9797 was around 400.00+ dollars in 81'!!
These and the 9595 are the only boomboxes I know with the PLL Quartz Lock Tuning that I know of.That was the rave in the early 80's-digital everything!!:)

BYW,in case anyone didn't know PLL stands for Phase Lock Loop tuning.:)
Thanks for that John but I'm getting the physical service manual for this.
That's kind of what I thought about it being in factor European spec setting.Heck I might just leave it!:)

Your right AM is KHz been a little tired lately!
I just need to get a good 9595,mines abused and needs lots of work!:0
