belts turned to chewing gum?

can anyone tell me how to clean the sticky melted gunk of the melted belt from the pulley and whatever else that mess got on?

A 50:50 blend of Butyl Cellosolve and Isopropyl Alcohol works the best.
Windex contains BC.

In the old days, few could afford new belts, so they rolled out old bubble gum, then spray painted it black to make it stick to the pulleys better.
