Aiwa TPR 950e custom Line-in help

Hi!

Ok so my goal is to add this Line-in to my TPR 950e with the ''e'' whitch
is the biggest problem, cuase the europe version has no rca, only a very sensitive Phono.
Anyway, someone maybe owns a schematic that i can use for locating the tuners L/R
and then solder this 3,5mm jack with a switch.

I heard you can tap ur way to it, but i rather not cuase i heard it was a risk of shortcutting my
iphone. Well i can upload pictures of every angle there is into this box if it helps.

So the first DIN input is the one you're using? Sorry I don't know how to help in that case.

What player is your phone running? I always use Poweramp on smartphones as it includes a means of attenuating the output level to suit the sensitivity of the input to which you're connecting.
Many other advantages over the default player apps too and free if you don't need any of the plugins.

It's the only player that provides enough output for the B&O's uniquely insensitive line level - which makes even a crystal cartridge input seem too quiet - yet can be adjusted down far enough to play into the moving coil input on my old Hi-Fi amp with no trouble at all, not that I'd need to do that but the options are there.

Is Poweramp available from wherever it is that Apple phone software is downloaded from I wonder?

Answering my own question:
THIS might be a suitable alternative, it's intended for the iPhone. :-)

If you do want a good app for the iPhone use this:

McDSP's Louder Logic. I have an iPhone and and EVO4g LTE and Louder Logic smokes any droid app and I have both Poweramp and JetAudio and both of them are outstanding. The iPhones Cirrus Logic audio chip is peaches (the older Wolfson chips are dandy too) and the DSP software is based on what audio engineers use to produce the tracks we hear everyday. Droids just can't compete with the iPhone/iPod Touch or Cowons. Link to McDSP below:

What about the RIAA EQ curve?

I thought somebody would have made a pre-emphasis(RIAA) app so you could play a iProduct/Android through a phono input (de-emphasis) by now

I had no idea the TPR's were such spaghetti inside. :lol:
Once you find your left and right outs from the tuner board, the rest is pretty easy. I can't tell what is what from the photos, but members with this box may know. I have done 5 line-in mods using the method you described at the top of your post (thanks to superduper's Ward's Airline write-up https://boomboxery.com/forum/index.php?/topic/11860-adding-line-in-to-wards-airline-gen3996-boombox/).
Just remember to leave enough clearance for your jack when the box is closed up. Results are excellent when properly executed - anyone can plug in anything and you can record to cassette from your sources.

Edit: I also like to use a gob of hot glue on the solder points on the jack. They are very thin and bend easily while shoehorning it into the box. But the hot glue is removable.

I've found that using the built-in equaliser in poweramp to compensate is a very acceptable workround, though I consider the hardware approach to be the ideal solution in this case as the O/P doesn't need to compensate for the differing input sensitivities of a whole range of boxes.
