Only thing I can think of is that the buyer has tried it with a tape that's way too tightly wound.
Did you ask whether they'd only tried with that one tape?

Thats odd. :annoyed: really sucks, its sat in bubble wrap less than 4 weeks.don't want to open unit till all possible ideas have been met...

Look at the wear pattern on the teeth of that large idler gear in the centre of the picture, they're worn on one side to the point where their shape could make it quite difficult for them to mesh correctly with the gears on the hubs, this would tend to increase friction in that area so possibly that's what's causing the mechanism to drop out after a short time.

I'm guessing that the missing gear was removed for access to these other gears and hasn't randomly disappeared but who can say what some eBay buyers will get up to?

I got a small order on the way... awsome! :-D
Thanks for your order!

I'm going to take a wild guess that it was my video you looked at. Hopefully it helped to fully explain the process.

Feel free to post feedback on the replacement process and as to how well the replacement gear works in your Maggy.

Thanks! :)
