Deoxit - GOOD FOR M70 SLIDERS?

Second time trying to post a new thread. You guys have to make the session timeout LONGER!!!

Anyway, does the Deoxit stuff everyone praises also lube the sliders or will it strip them out & seize them up. I have a bit of a scratchy left volume slider & want to clean it but not sure if Deoxit will do more harm. I need contact cleaner for pots that'll also lube the sliders & make them smooth as silk too.

You will never get them to like original unless you take them apart, clean and lube while apart. It's not gonna hurt to try a little bit of deoxit and work slider

Sorry, but not sure if that answered my question. To be absolutely sure. Will Deoxit also lube & smooth out the action or will it strip the slider & seize it. Does Deoxit have lubricant as well? Sorry to be difficult, I just have to be absolutely sure. The slider works good. It's just a little bit scratchy is all & is actually getting better as I use it more so I don't want to chance it if it'll make it worse.

As we all know there are several Deoxit brands. Deoxit Fader Lube 5 is the one I use. I learned it from Norm. Fader Lube 5 contains a lubricant and will not leave the movement dry.
I should say that nothing lubes like the grease that it had on the sliding friction area. Open up the sliders, cleaning with deoxit, and then lubricating the friction area with grease is the right way to do it.
Minimum application of deoxit in drops will not wash away the lubrication on the movements but if you flood it it will.
On rotary contacts I always hold the knob facing up and then work with deoxit drop by drop with a syringe and injection/shot needle. It works well that way

Thanx BBL48. That bit of info goes a long way. It really helps a lot.

Deoxit F5 has a higher lube content. It makes sliders slightly smoother than regular Deoxit but the sliders still tend to feel stiff and gritty. I try not to spray sliders if I can get away with it. I've also tried the clean and grease lube method with good results but if the sliders are worn out, nothing is going to make them feel like new again.

Actually, the slider is doing just fine but it was a bit scratchy at times. It was more of a maintenance thing than having to fix a flaky slider. I know what a worn & sloppy slider feels like & this ain't it. It's got a tiny bit of dust in it from sitting & a good cleaner would do the trick. The more I use it, the better is sounds & the volume is balanced anyway once you have it where you want it. I just don't want to risk using an inferior cleaner.

I also use FaderLube. It maintains the feel, but removes scratchiness. You may have to try a bit longer to get the pot cleaned well.

I believe in fader lube.

That's my 2 cents. Just start using it more that will work the static out of them.
(I hate sliders too) unfortunately most JVC models use them.
