I've been looking at this mech for weeks trying to work out the belt positioning and I'm out of options.

The flywheel to the motor is obvious, of course, and the tape counter, but I've no clue as to the positioning to actually get the tape spindles to move. I can't work out where a belt needs to go to actually move the pulleys that drive the spindles. Please help!!

I've taken a few pictures, and I can take more if need be. I'm stumped as everything I've tried doesn't work.

Here goes.

This is without the flywheel.

Any help would be absoloutely wonderful. Thanks guys

I think I may need your help there Ramon.

I solved the spindle drive problem with the red position below:

But the pulley in the green circle I have no clue about.

It's playing and rewinding great, and the DRPS (AMS/MMS equivalent) works great, but only when rewinding back through songs.

The other issue it does this odd half-click type thing after I record and go back to play mode. Like the mechanism isn't
resetting after being in record. Something like that. I managed to get it from locking up completely after recording, but I'm not sure if whatever I did is going to work forever or not. My bets are on it failing again the next time I record, which requires opening her all up to manually reset the mech.

Any ideas Ramon? Hope your birthday was rockin, brother.

Rick, I think your "red" belt might be wrong. The motor's drive shaft should be spinning the flywheel. Then, the flywheel will run the other belts.

Maybe?

EDIT:

Well, after looking at the flywheel and not finding any belt grooves on it, you might be right about the "red" belt. The "green" one might actually have to be a tire. My Sanyo M9935 had a similar thing where I needed a tire. I went to a local hardware store and picked up a mix of rubber O-rings in different circumferences and diameters. I found one that fit perfectly and worked great. Just an idea.

yes my birthday was great  it looks like red is fine that wheel looks like it needs a oring belt i think if it touches that other wheel,, then you have the wide belt  it been awhile so i am trying to remember and dont be surprized but the deck that i replaced the belt showed simular behavior of locking up.....

Old post , I know- update for those wondering about the red pulley- it`s a small belt that goes over the green pulley attaching under the red furthest away - it`s an SBS belt , 4.0 inches - you`ll see a spot under the main pulley about 1/4 inch in diameter where the belt attaches to- the broken lines mean it goes underneath that pulley -
