Odering Idler Tires For GF-9494 & GF-9696

Hi,can anyone tell me the correct size idler tires for my Sharp GF-9494 and
GF-9696? They're both the same size and I want to order the correct ones.
I'd appreciate any help on this!
Also if anyone knows,I need tires for the 9191, and 9292.Just need to know
what sizes they are. I have sizes from StudioSound and they have
3 sizes available: IT-13,IT-14,and IT-26
Corresponding to as used in IW-3,IW-4,& IW-26 respectfully.

DevolTony will tell you exact size. I bought a RC model silicone fuel pipes a while ago for him and they fit perfect. Sadly forgot the size Will try to find the link again too .

Print this reference chart and check with your tire size.
Look under Sharp.
I believe it is IT-14, but I am not sure. I forgot it...amnesia after consuming vodka..

Here it is the exactly size of the idler tire for GF9191/9494/9595 (I'm not sure if it is the same dimensions for the 9696 because I haven't that model)
Outer diameter: 22,0 to 22,5 mm
Inside diameter: 16,5 mm
thickness: 2 mm

I guess Studiosound is out of these.
Is there another supplier where I can obtain these idler tires?
I need 1 for sure or 2 would be great.

Jeff, what's happen with the old/original idler tires?
it is unusual to change this tires

It has a chunk that fell off of it.Got really brittle and old.
I might do some measuring myself when I put the new rubber tube on
the capstan this weekend.I think the tire in this photo is from a 9191
or 9292 in which case is a little smaller in diameter.
I'll keep all informed after I do this.

The idler tires I need measure:
13/16" outer tire diameter-confirmed!!
1/16" tire thickness-confirmed!!

If you cannot get idler tires there is another option.


Go to a plumbing shops like Menards, Home Depot, Lowes and and look for O rings. Pepboys also got these O-Ring Assortment.
You will find one that fits the plastic wheel. For GF9696 this might cause speed variation but it got a motor speed adjustment. at the lower left slde of the cassette door and you can adjust the speed.

The diameter of the idler tire and the tube over the capstan both influence the speed of the tape in play mode. With the motor speed adustment slider we can compensate for it.

Well thanks to Royce I got my Sharp GF-9696Z
tape deck fully working right now!! The larger of
the 2 O-Rings was a perfect fit for my idler tire!!

The tubing was a perfect fit and I'm very happy that
with a little extra spring tension on this tire I
now have a perfect working cassette deck with
correct speed while in the middle of the tape
speed control!
Very happy about this-just need another O ring
and i'll have my 9494 perfect to!!
