Just wondered if many have ordered or bought units from abroad.

After shipping are we likely to be stung by import tax then vat?

I bought something from the USA before and got changed 12% on the full price of the item and shipping followed by Vat.

So a bit worried if I bought a unit of say £300 plus £80 shipping I'm likely to pay an extra £130 for the priverlage.

Almost makes it unaffordable.

Advice please.

Yes you will be bent over and screwed hard. There's been a few over the years that were not charged duty, but most are.

Move to Australia, second hand goods and goods lower in value than $1000.00 are not charged import duty or GST (same as your VAT).

Trust me if the other half was keen I would. Think our jobs would let us no probs.

I'm not sure if I buy in the EU it's the same.
