Forget about the price you paid for it. Forget value, or Rarity. Forget everything.

IF there is only 1 boombox in your collection that is your favorite. Regardless of the reason. Whether it is sex appeal, size, blinky lights, volume, sound quality, rarity, attention grabber, check magnet, aesthestics.... whatever.

The ONLY 1 boombox that you would keep, if your entire collection was to be given away (not sold, because value is of NO significance since money is no longer recognized).

What boombox would you keep? Name ONLY 1 please.

**** Scotty, why did you post up photos of the Sanyo M-X920k, that's just cruel. :-D Your one sounded awesome and I loved the heavily weighted tuner dial!!
It's got a grown up sound that traded outright power for a nice, natural sound that you wouldn't tire of over long listening sessions.

Nice choice,

James.... :-)

I just couldn't pick one especially since I have 2 Lasonics that I purchased new. I would never give them away for nothing because they are mine, all mine ;-)

This is an easy one for me. My collection is tiny due to monetary constraints, so my one keeper might surprise people. It's my Sanyo M9990. It's kinda special to me, has great sound (especially at low to moderate volume), looks totally awesome, and is superbly portable.

This is an old pic from the day I received it from member Llopez. I have since gone through the entire box to bring it to like-new condition.

Yikes! This is tough. I feel really sad thinking about having to choose and how my boxes would feel being suddenly given away after being my absolute pride and joy, cherished and loved and worshipped for so many years...
I was so close to going with Scotty, my all time favourite box for a long time has been the M-X920, both black and silver tuner versions...
But I'm going to select (do it before you change your mind!) my gorgeous Sanyo M-X820. It has so much that the nine twenty boasts but with luxurious looks and amazing quality and a digital tuner readout on an analogue dial and *deep breath* woodgrain...
Dear Sanyo 820, I love you

For me is quite easy - Toshiba SX 1000 . I would pick this one in top of any other boomer. Love the sound, love the appeal, love the white passive radiators ( lot whiter than WX-1 ) . And it have some led vu's too :-D . And lately looks rarer than BB40 too :-D

my boxes that have had the love and talents from you and ramon and frank are the most valuable to me

but there are plenty more than ONE of those :-)

Sanyo M-9998. It's not even the "k" version.

Just a plain 9998...but it has to be this one in particular, 'cause she's my baby. :smooch:

If you own a gold M71 like in your avatar then i think you should put this down as your answer. Easy.

Its a pretty boring and predictable answer but my collection isn't very big and doesn't hold anything massive or rare (yet!) so I'll have to go with my newly booming M70...boring, sorry!

Definitely the silver RC-550  .
Not only because it is so rare and basically has no comparable value but because I got it from Peter who became a great friend of mine and kind of was my mentor and lead me through getting my collection together. There is almost no box on my wall for which I didn't ask Peter for advise :-D .
And now he passed on the rarest of the rare to me - his silver 550 (having said he would bury his ashes in it two years ago when I first saw it :w00t: ).
I know what an incredibly nice gesture it was of him - and all he aksed for was one M90 (okay, an M90 is a grail but relatively common after all).
That being said - although it is only with me for three days now, it is already the box that means most to me. :smooch:

Wow, looks like Sanyo's are stealing the show, with some JVC's too.

This is a reaally tough one. :hmmm:

I agree with Jimmy above its almost too tough as I just don't have any 'grails' to speak of...but after much deliberation I think at this moment in time I would keep my Sanyo 9994k purchased from Kenpat. Thanks Ken, you were right I absolutely love this radio. Its beefy and sounds great. May not be minty fresh but thats perfect for me cause I like to haul it around and use it damn near constantly. And with the parts that are coming from down under (thanks jimmy!) it will look even better soon.

I have 2 Clairtone 7980's at home (Conion c-100) ....but

I would keep my VZ-2000, we play LPs almost exclusively at home for music, it just would get used more and always gets the "Wow" factor when we have friends over because it plays records...vertically..and you dont have to flip it :-)
