Need Your help. I want to change my GF6060 speakers.

Hello again. I have repaired and repainted my 6060. Now the only thing it needs is new speakers. Since it's not a really rare collector's unit I want to change it a little bit and make it my carrying box. It's the perfect size and it looks ok. So I took out the speakers. And they are 7ohm, 2W :D, 12cm wide and 4cm deep. I want to put in some new higher wattage ones. I found the users manual on the internet and it says Output Power RMS 5.4W. That's not much. So if i want to put in some higher wattage speakers i need to change the whole amp?

Speaker drivers do not have wattage, they do have a power handling ratings (eg. 15 watts) you could put any wattage drivers you please in there
What you are looking for is higher sensitivity (eg. 91dB) and depending on the amp chip, lower impedance. the original box is rated at 8 ohm so the chip would need to be looked at (specs) to see if it could handle a lower impedance driver. The higher sensitivity of newer drivers would help a little.

Changing speaker is, or at least should be, more than choosing something the same size. The replacements need to be able to work in a small volume (size) enclosure and run pretty close to full range. To change an amp is not an easy task if you want it to integrate with the existing pre & source sections. Amp changing would be best on a larger box that could be totally modified like TRC-920's GPX mod (project: louder blaster)

Oh ok then. I will keep the amp. I read you reply like 7 times and i still dont understand some of it (im new to this audio stuff, but im trying to learn as much as i can). So what you are saying is i can put in speakers with as much wattage as i want, but i have to mind the ohms. What spec speakers should i be looking for?
Oh and i attached a part of 6060 manual guide. Hope it helps.

Because of amp I highl doubt you will find any speakers that will give off more bass :thumbsdown: plus isn't that a tone only box :huh:

So there is no point in changing the speakers withuot changing the amp. :sad: . Thanks a lot for your help.
