Hey there family! I haven't been around the board in a while, but don't think I'm not BoomBoxn' on a daily basis  Well now I'm back on and I hope I'm not posting in the wrong section. Here's my issue:

Telefunken.... one of my prize possessions. Recently noticed that the sound gets faint and scratchy after a few minutes, as if some contacts were getting old, dry and dirty. During my trial and error of what knob it could be, I couldn't diagnose which it was until I hit the power button. The sound becomes full again for a few moments after I turn the unit on and off. The power button is a spring action up and down. The sound stays true when I keep my finger on the button holding it all the way in. I automatically what to deoxit the power contact.... I just want to make sure that everyone agrees before I try to take off the face of this beautiful box. If, so.... has anyone taken the face off of one of these before? I would love some advice. Thanks Boomboxery :-D

:-D :-D Its time to finally open up the unit and clean all the contacts with Deoxit. Earlier the better!

I don't have this model but there are members here who can advice you with the opening of the unit.

Prize possession needs maintenance.

It's pretty simple to open but the knobs are all screwed in with allen screws. Forget what size but it's metric and use caution not to strip it. Front face comes off to. Your problem sounds like bad connection in power switch. Deoxit first. Of that don't work you may have to disassemble it. Good luck :-)

All the knobs are off, unscrewed the four small screws that hold the face in. The face almost wants to come off but theres resistance coming from the middle section. I don't want to pull it until something breaks. Is there a screw(s) holding it from the back?

The VU meters are held stuck onto the front. I think I just yanked mine and they unstuck themselves, but you should probably use a tool to pry them off.

Also think deck door needs to be open.

I would replace the main amp capacitors while you're at it, these things are very old.

so i hit a brick wall.... getting all the connections deoxit-ed, only to find out that its not the power button. now it seems that the sound only become true when I press the tape play button half way down until it makes the box sound almost pop. The tape player will override all sources when the play button is pressed all the way down. As soon as i press a half press play and let any other source play, it fixes the crackle sound. keep in mind the crackleing sound is intermittent . usually after a few minutes of true sound. Is there a contact for this play button? If so, seems difficult :-/

forget it fellas    I'm not worthy of fixing this unit. I forgot to mention a while back that it's only the left side that has this problem. I've done the best I can to my ability. It seems to me like this unit is ****ed, but to someone else it would be an easy fix. Anyone want to fix this unit for me? I love this Telefunken
