Hi, this blaster has a bit weird problem. The other speakers cone moves much more and has much deeper bass. Also the frames of the speakers are different, but exactly same code and model. Other speaker has much more old style frame. I've yet to open it up again and check which one is has less bass...

The speakers seem to be original. I've checked that the only thing that is different between the speakers is the frame.

PS. Does someone know the manufacturing years of these? Seems like there is similar models with different numbers. Insides look more like late 80's or even 90's

I had this problem with the 9494 too, but it had identical speakers. The reason was due to "unloosened" spider/suspension on the other woofer. A boombox usually has around 3-8 watts output power and it may be too little for a woofer to be "driven in" properly.

Any woofer/midrange has its Fs (lowest resonant frequency) higher when new. After maybe 10-100 hours of playing at high volume the spider and upper suspension will loosen up, making the woofer more sensitive at lower frequencies while the Fs goes down. I have a method that can improve bass response on any boombox, given that the original speakers are still somewhat stiff or the box hasn't been pounded hard. It's possible that an improvement can be hard even when the box has been up to its paces.

I will add a thread to another section about this method. It involves hooking the speakers up to a good amplifier and playing test tones through the speakers at high volume and some measuring too.
