What is your favorite piece of gear ?,it can be vintage ,new or in between

Right now the item I own that gets used every day and never ceases to impress me is my Yamaha Rx-Z9 Receiver .
it is a few years old and that is why I was able to pick it up,
the original price was a tad under $5000 so it was way out of my reach until they started showing up on the used market
In the sub $1000 price range .

it is better than all but a very few of the vintage Receivers I have owned and I have had most of the totl 70s and 80s models from marantz, pioneer, sansui ,kenwood ,rotel ,luxman etc.

The dynamic power this provides to my very difficult to drive 4ohm speakers is 340 watts into a 4 ohm load , I still use an external amp for my main speakers just because I like having 600 watts at the ready if scaring the neighbors becomes necessary, but this receiver is capable of driving all 9 speakers to fantastic levels all on its own .

here are a few pics of an RX-Z9 but not mine (my camera sucks )

if you can overlook the inconvenience of not having Hdmi support and want the most bang for the buck I would suggest this Receiver to anyone ,the previous owner upgraded to the newer Yamaha RX-Z11 and he regrets it

I have to run with 3 pieces of gear I have, 2 are Yamaha, 1 is Sony.

First up is the newest find, a Yamaha CDR-HD1500.

This puppy was discontinued in 2011, and is a standalone CD Recorder, coupled with an internal 200GB hard drive, RRP here was $899.00 and I found it sans front jog knob and remote for $39.00 in a local thrift, mine is the black version. I've replaced my Pioneer CD player with this baby in my bedroom system.

Next up is my Yamaha KX-390 cassette deck. This one gets used every evening, as I have it connected up through my computer. I bought it 2nd hand in 1999 for $100.00 and it has performed flawlessly ever since, clean the heads every now and then is the only maintenance I've done.

Last but not least is my Sony CDP CX -355 300 Mega Storage CD player, not the best sounding CD player I've ever heard, but certainly the most convenient to use with it's 300 CD carousel.

The video below is just after I rebelted it.

I have had a lot of gear over the years but I will always keep my Marantz 4400 Quad. I am also quite partial to my Energy model 2 or 3, no info can be found about these, but they use a prototype of the hyperdome used in the Pro 22's.

My Luxman PD-375 vac platter turntable (made by Micro) is something I think about moving on but never can

Nice score on the Yamaha Terry.

My Linn Sondek - found it in a freeads for "pennies" - got a new plinth for it, now it looks a million dollars

My Linn Isobariks - found these for "pennies" on eBay from a loacl seller - unfortunately they required "QUIDS" to fix - so I sold these on and made a healthy profit.
If you ever get the chance to own or even listen to these badboys I INSIST upon it!

My Kenwood KA-D1100EX Digital amp

I love the Bose 501 series IV speakers I picked up at a yard sale for $20... Had them in the back of my Subaru for my hellacious commute a year or so ago... Now they're part of the boombox wall. :)

They make me happy everyday.

My prized audio gear are my KLF 30 speakers from Klipsch.

Would have loved to own the Mahogany wood version, Tascam B122 tapedeck & my Crown CTS 600 amp.

If I had the Nakamichi Dragon that would be my very prized audio gear.
