Philips D8614 cassette door stuck

hi! newbie here ! i was able to bought this beauty for 5 euros , it plays very well all functions well and ive been listening music throught AUX ,only bug is i dont get cassette deck door opened . All the deck operations seems to work ,play,rew,ff.

i was asking if someone is more familiar with the machine and can help .

Hi and welcome.
The most likely cause for the door not opening is the the cassette heads are stuck in the play postion or somewhere in between play and stop, the mechanism will prevent the eject from doing anything. The mechanism could just be stuck, but this box only has one belt just for the capstan everthing else is gear driven. Some of these gear are made from a rubber like material and with age this becomes soft and the gears can break apart. You will have to look inside and see what the problem is.
I have recently finished repairing mine and had to replace some these gears including the large gear that moves the heads up and down.
I have the service manual in PDF format if this will help, I can post some pictures also.

Thanks mrp , problem solved, i can open the door now, it was stuck play position.
it seems need to deoxit play,ff,rew switches beacuse those can be stuck on too.

one problem left, when i trying to recording cassette using AUX only right channel led meter moves. Recording balance knob dont fix this. But when playing cassettes both channel meter work. So i can now only record mono. :-/

Clean all switches, mostly the function switch!
Then try again :yes:

About the tape deck:
This one is servo controlled.
Maybe the belts are weak and need a change soon. :blush:

i cleaned all pots and switches, still left leds not work when recording. No big issue i can live with it. Thanks
