My problem lately has been actually getting the boxes but all smashed up. I would rather not have received them and them still be in one piece for someone else at least. :'-(

My problem is NOT AS DESCRIBED!!! Just got a radio that is "FULLY" working.... well he didn't mention FM or the RIGHT SPEAKER doesn't...... It just pisses me off!

So I'm with ya on the Ebay sellers, most just looking to cash in on their junk, either through a "SUCKER" or Insurance claim after they send the already damaged unit.

:annoyed:

For me, eBay has always been a total crap shoot. If there's a way to get screwed, I've had it happen: from boxes broken into a million pieces in shipping because they were packed in tissue paper, to boxes with a handle that falls off when you pick it up, to boxes with conveniently unmentioned golf-ball size holes burned into the back by an overheated transformer, to sellers who issue recall notices through the post office to get their box returned before it arrives because they changed their mind about selling it. I've seen it all!

When I get something from eBay these days, I don't don't wonder IF there's going to be a problem. I wonder WHAT the problem will be, and I just hope it won't cost me too many hours of agony or too much of my life's savings.

So that... on those rare occasions when I actually spot a boombox for sale in the wild, my heart leaps for joy! What a thrill to be able to look, touch, taste and try out the real thing before I buy it... not to mention pay for it right then and there, and actually take it home... and pay less than it's worth, instead of gobs more, all because one other bidder in the entire world wants the box as much as I do.

But, like Charlie Brown kicking Lucy's football, I keep coming back to eBay for more... because that's where the selection is and because I'm naive enough to believe that "this time, things will work out."

Dream on!!

Most of my operational boxes came from eBay:

Sharp GF-777Z
Sharp GF-9494X
Sharp GF-666Z
Sanyo M-X720K

The only one that arrived NOT matching the description was the Sanyo (broken power board that I fixed). I consider myself VERY fortunate with my experiences on eBay. :-)

I've been very fortunate with ebay, and have only received two or three boxes with real damage due to shipping. Of course the description lapses have been a bigger problem but still nothing to cry over. I've heard many of you have had horrible luck receiving smashed up boxes and many of those are very hard to get high end boxes and that really frosts me because it didn't have to happen. The ultimate tragedy is that another great box was just removed from circulation, just shipping alone adds an ugly attrition rate to our hobby. :annoyed:

i Bought my rising 007 the other day,the guy said it works perfect..
After it arrived,i tested it,volume is crackly beyond belief, put a tape in,the deck jammed because of old dirty belt, then i noticed through the speaker grill, its got speaker rott,on both speakers,i emailed him,he did say send it back, but i like the box too much,so i let it go..i`ve ordered a set of speaker repair rings..i would have been happy if he would have offered a partial refund, but he did`nt offer..

Hi-I've been very fortunate!
I've really only had 1 damaged in shipping. It was my M-70C from Canada.
It will be fixed though(tuner string is off and a small chip on the bottom corner I fixed it though. Overall-very good experiences for the most part.
I hope more people package better because of the weight & the cost of these things!!
Have a great one-GB. :-)

Bill I think your absolutely correct, there are low lifes and underhanded people using ebay to intentionally rip people off. Unfortunately ebay is a free zone for crooks and with few exceptions the only price to pay is having your account terminated. As of late it appears buyers have the upper hand in being protected but that certainly hasn't stopped the slime element.
