Some of you might remember that almost half a year ago our dear member SINISTER was selling his pretty Helix. Well I was the lucky buyer - only it turned out I wasn't so lucky after all.

I contacted him and offered a good amount of money but wanted to know how much shipping was. There was some back and forth but we finally figured out the price in total including shipping costs. Then I paypal'd him the money as soon as I could... as he was "looking for a quick sale". Took me a week cause I needed to visit my bank in Berlin - I was moving from there to Hannover and hadn't been in Berlin at the time. He contacted me every few days to see how things were. When he got it he said he'd need some time to find packaging materials and I agreed that good packaging materials were important.

Two weeks later I sent him a message and asked how things were going. "Things are crazy at work, still looking for a box."
Another two weeks and I checked in again. "Sorry, been ill, got the materials, only need to pack"
Another two weeks, another message but no answer. Another week and two messages. "Sorry, been outta town for work the last two weeks, no laptop. Packed and I'll add some extra stuff for you."
Another two weeks and I ask again, replies comes a week later. "Sorry! Last couple of months were really bad for me but I'm not ripping you of!"
Three weeks later I message him and politely tell him that I'd rather have my money back. "Don't have the money, but I'll try to ship it within the next week."
That was when he posted this.

Well, now it's another six weeks later and I haven't heard from him since then. The last messages I sent him a still marked as unread.

I don't know what to do. I don't know if there is anything I can do. Does anyone here know him in person? Know where he lives, what's going on with him?

Too late for a PayPal claim I suppose :-/
I once was ripped off by an eBay seller for an RX5350 that never got shipped any PayPay refunded my money within a few days without any hassle.

I really do not think Sinister was ever trying to rip you off. I actually believe he had the intention to quickly sell it but life got in the way.
It's not really an excuse but I am sure he really is sorry. :-/

Bottom line is probably that you will never get the Helix and chances of you getting your money back are also quite out of sight since I guess Sinister is not going to return ot the forum if you message is still unread.

Sorry man :sadno:

I don't know Sinister personally but you got a raw deal. If you pay someone money for an item they should send it. If they are unable to send it they should return your money. I know everyone has emergencies that pop up. If he is truly ill he could have had a family member or friend pack it and send it. I think to spend your money before making sure the item has been sent is wrong. Keeping you waiting this long with no answer is worse. If he can write a post letting Boomboxery know he is ok then he can certainly give you an update on your 6 month old transaction. I am sorry this happened to you. This site has a very good reputation and I hope he does the right thing.

Comes back to basic rules for sellers - if you take someone's money YOU OWE THEM THE PRODUCT OR REFUND THE MONEY! If you are using a customer's money for you to survive, you are wrong. This is not money for a "loan" and you will get you your stuff or your money back when I am "on my feet again"...... :nonono:

I don't think paypal claim would've worked here as iI didn't buy it via ebay.
And I agree, I don't think he wanted to rip me off. But it would've been a little easier for me if he'd been honest to me and if he'd told me what was going on without me having to ask.

I don't see me getting the Helix or my money back either.

I'm just glad I had many good deals with great members, otherwise I'd probably been outta here.

I don't believe that's the case, I've know Sinister for years going back to S2G and he's always been honorable if slow on occasion. Although I haven't talked to him in a while I gather from his postings that he's having a difficult time. I expect he will or already has shipped the package.

I'm not making excuses just putting the positive twist on this that I believe is likely the case. Granted the time frame is enough to make any of us skeptical and likely to make many of us just want to abandon the transaction and get our money back. No matter what the case I agree a transaction shouldn't take this long, nothing good comes from it.

Depends what kind of Paypal method you used.
If you used a credit card, you can file a claim.
But yeah, holding on to someone's money or using it for something else is lame. Even if he & his family are jobless and getting evicted, it still doesn't matter. It's a matter of honesty.

From what I heard he was very responsible while a member on S2G for many years..I had gotten some parts from Sin while we were on S2G and it was a little slow for shipping but I did get parts. I purchased a couple BBx's from him and he was slow shipping but when I got them they were packed good so that's all that mattered to me  I agree when you sell something you need to ship in a reasonable time frame and always keep in touch with buyer until they receive and are happy with package. This is my own personal motto ;-)

Well, i used PayPal buyer protection before for a non-eBay purchase without using my credit card.
They have a good buyer protection. ;-)
I only believe that 6 months after you sent the money, you cannot file a claim anymore. :-/

He's taken me for a hundred bucks too zippy. I don't expect to receive the box he owes me either.
I got the same excuses but I'm moving on with it. I'm just glad it was only a hundred :-/

This just sucks if there are multiple accounts of this going on with him. Surely someone here has a number to contact him in order to get some answers. He is the one accountable here and even in most circumstances, it shouldn't be that hard to get word back to the forums to explain the lengthy delay. Being periodically informed of one's ______ situation is one thing, but to drop off the face of the earth with no contact does make you worry. Having said that, I hope he is okay.

I've known Sin for a few years too, and bought a couple of boxes off him, if he's not following through on these then he must be going through some seriously bad times as he's always been a stand up guy on here and s2g.

I'm not making excuses for him or anything, but I'd be inclined to think you will get your boxes eventually, I really doubt he's planning on keeping anyone's money without sending their purchase, it just might be a while.

Sorry to Zippy and Alfie, I feel for you guys.

Rock On.

I agree with everyones views on this one.
Given Sin hasn't been on the forum for 6 weeks suggests that he may be doing it really tough and I have a feeling he probably is.
It is inexcusable using Zippy's and my money to help get himself out of a tight spot however we don't know all the details.
I've dealt with Sin in the past and all has been good as it has been with many members who've dealt with him.
I'm fortunate enough that I can afford to write off a hundred bucks if I have to on this one (i'd still like my box though).
All I can say is that I hope that hundy is helping Sin get back on his feet and when he does, he honours the deal and is grateful to both ZIppy and I for helping him in his time of need.
Part of me thinks the box will turn up one day................... But I wont hold my breath...............
