Just hat an idea to start this "trash thread".
Boomboxes at the end of live.
> Destroyed boxes at flea or dump
> Dead boxes you are parted
> all other finds of sad classic boxes

Have some pics, but starting with the trashboxes i got this weekend for free, additional to the big PHILIPS.

First one is this ASTROSOUND mono:

Dirt everywhere, a painter must have used it.
Radio works, tape dead

I was´nt able to get the dirt off and it´s no keeper.
So take a last look:

One for the database:

Yeah, the "trash award 2009" goes to....
...this nonamed mono :-P

Anybody used it as "boombox-bomb"?
Never seen such destruction at a box.
And: This box is working!!!!! :dunce:

Jens, can you identify it?

At this nice SONY it´s very hard, to part it:

Must have been an very nice and expensive box:

Too sad about the missing tapedoor.
And the CD is dead

Radio and tape sounds really strong

Electronic tapedeck!!! :w00t:

Anybody owns such box and needs parts?? :angelic:

Label:

To be continued...

Hi Roman-I'd keep that Sony-kind of a rare and a early cd player.
BUT the others-take the belts and the speakers and maybe the switches out and any good antennas and THEN throw it away-there's always usually "Good Stuff" inside!!
Have a great week-GB. :-)

I will keep the SONY and try a repair.
But if i can´t get the CD working > parting

Like the ITT-SchaubLorenz tapemachine:

Some interesting parts in it:

Also this worthless AUDIOTON junior line:

I used to have the Sony version of that JR. line.
I carried it every where.
About that destroyed no name mono, I think if it still works after all it has been through,Then it has earned it's place among the living and the thriving. No Name is a true surviver.
It should play the Rocky theme song.

Cheers OSS :afro:

Like something out of a bad dream. It must have sat out in the sun a while...after it was dredged out of the bottom of some local lake.A little too long in the dry cycle perhaps?Too bad as I'm usually a sucker for anything with a line level input :-/
Check out those drivers.

Needed space, so 2 boxes have to go

First the big NAN HO with burned amp :-/

Strange unit with wooden body

Saved every useable part ;-)

Second that have to go was the broken GRACIA of our company
It had an bad accident and was dropped.
Broken to pieces.... :'-(
But i saved it in the last minute before dumping

Not worth to save, because i own the same one as INTERNATIONAL in good condition.
But a perfect partspender. :angelic:

When i drove to the dump to recycle the rest, i pulled out this ugly COSMEL. :dunce:
Working,but i won´t save it.
It is soooo terrible looking...
So also parting next time. :sin:

Boom shaka,
What place is this?
Are they all exclusively late 80s early 90s boxes or is there a gem in there somewhere?

Boom shaka, What place is this?
I'm sorry, but I don't know. My "boombox wreck" photos are just pictures I've kept in my file because of how shocking they are. I think the photo of the shelves filled with late eighties/nineties boxes was originally posted by an S2G member, but that was a long time ago, and I can't remember. Arkay once said that it reminded him of the storage rooms used by the dealers he visited in Hong Kong. Maybe another "old timer" here can fill in the gaps in my memory!

Is it me or does it seem none of these boxes ever boomed,
:hmmm: even when they were brand new???
