Bombeat 40 help please

Can someone tell me how im supposed to open one up please.

I want to see if i can change the belt/s but i cant even open it up !
So much for mny ability to repair anything

Anyway it appears as though there are no screws at all from the back ??

I have taken all the screws from around the sides out except the very middle one
on the bottom, the head of the screw snapped off but it should still come away.
So now it seems to be seperating the front from the case most of the way around but it still seems as
though its connected someway in the centre ?

Any info please ??

Each one of the two speaker trim rings has a "real" allen screw. The rest are fakes. Look closely and you can tell which are which Aza.

I would never ever have worked that one out !!
I remember finding the hidden screws on my VZ2000 no problem but this

Fatdog, i was actually thinking the TDK and 40 would look good together so pics to follow tomorrow !

Unfortunately i didnt think to take pics while it was apart i was focused entirely on getting it sorted.

I had the same question when you change the belts on mine.
just look closely you can see which are true of the decorative screws.
change the belt but I discovered another problem, the piece of plastic from under the head was broken, try to paste it, but the piece bears the pressure of a spring and it was not solded good.








After hours of thinking how to solve it, use a small screw and a wire clamp, to give tension to the spring.








with this adaptation, making the cassette player working again properly
not a piece genuine Toshiba, but it works !!!!!.

You know, Norm, I saw those phantom allen screws on my side speaker covers on my Kaboom. I was just like... DAMN! This is on TIGHT! :annoyed: :annoyed:

For the record, the lighting wasn't so great where I was...

Then I realized...

and wondered why it was necessary....

At least it was just the Kaboom. I would HATE to do that to one of my old boxes. I don't know what the hell they had on that box. I was like sticky, thick tar or something. I had to put oil on it to get it to break loose then wash it with soap. CRAZY!

Holly, there were a few kaboom models/editions where jvc coated the end caps and knobs with a rubbery coating. Over time, the coating degrades and turns sticky, gooey. Is that what you are talking about? The best way to deal with those is to clean off the mess with isopropyl, then paint the caps to protect them from further degradation.
