Hi everyone-As you know I recently aquired a very clean Sony CFD-550 for free and everything worked except the cd player.
The thing I noticed about it was that the pedestal that the cd sits on was like mashed down,wasn't raised at all.
So I took it apart and the thing was mashed down somehow.
So 2 rubber bands around the lower bottom washer things that are on the bottom of the cushion ride mounted player.
It pushed it up right back where it was supposed to be!
Somehow something had pushed the spring mounted player so that there was play in the cushion threads on each of the 4 corners.
2 bands around each side worked very nicely.Nothing to get in the way either,still cushion mounted!
All works perfect now-very happy!
