Got a problem with what I think is perhaps a cleaning issue but not sure.

Radio function is good though there is no FM Stereo, I can get the light to flicker on when moving the siwthc between AM and FM quickly.

The deck function just has loud static noise, can't hear a tape playing above the static noise but the functions on the deck do work.
I've tried cleaning the headpohne and mic sockets, the line in sockets, the little switch in the power inlet and all control sliders and knobs but none of them have any affect on the level of static noise ie: it doesn't go louder or quieter at all. The mode switch has has a hugely thorough workout with switch cleaner.

When I got it the deck was stuck in play mode with the heads engaged but a little steady work freed them and they work as expected now with the press of a button. I've changed the single belt this deck has. Since this is a logic deck there is no record bar to clean either :dunce:

Not sure where else to look ?! Anyone know about a schematic ?

FM Stereo light now working thanks.
The deck has me beat for now.

The Light under the ADRES sign is knackered. I recall seeing a makeup by Norm and wondered if the lamp there is actually a light and not an LED is it seems to have a green rubber over it but its not a standard looking LED.
What should I replace it with ?

I'm guessing that since the lamp is not an LED but a general lamp/bulb that the power is AC but I'll check that out tonight when I get home.

Would anyone happen to know where to get a schematic from for this wonderment !?

Gotta say this one is frustrating as hell. The deck is the same after thorough cleaning of pots and switches etc. now it auto stops too
Thanks for the info monchito, I managed to find them under axial lamp now I just need to know the voltage which I think is 12v.
I tried my usual website where I've bought schematics from before but they didn't have it.
Will look around but this one might be up for grabs :hmmm:

docs they are a bit complicated i worked on one a long time ago,, i belive it was the motor which was spinning out of control ,,since these are 2 motor drive the main one was at full blast no way to slow it down did not have the schen ,,so what i did was replace the motor for one i could adjust speed on the motor and that took care of that...

Thanks again monchito, seems like the autostop was intermittent and I think due to years of lack of use. The motor on this deck is adjustable but for now it seems to be playing ball.
It is looking increasingly like the white noise when on tape deck function (it doesn't happen on any other function) is a component issue though I will continue cleaning the switches etc. and i'll check the line in section for any dry joints.
Though whatver it is, is not common to all functions but only happens on the deck function, its the same through headphones :hmmm:

The good news is the light has been replaced and it looks great !

A really good cleanup of the knobs and switches and generally the outside case and it'll be ready for a photo

Still having an issue with the deck and static noise.

Yeh it plays the tape no problem but all I am hearing is static noise, just like a radio band that is not tuned in, can't hear any music from the tape.

Maybe it is playing music on cassette, but you have one of the switches in the wrong position. :angelic: :hmmm:

Thanks guys and skippy1969 for the pictures.

I have the function switch on the lowest setting which is tape deck and leave the band selector setting on FM.
The rest are a mixture of recording level and tape type selection among others.

However, as soon as I place the function on tape deck that is when the white noise occurs, it is constantly there not just when playing a tape.
Though oddly, when recording the white noise disappears and it does record but with play the white noise just continues.

Line in works as does radio perfectly and the function switch does not affect the white noise after cleaning or flicking and tapping the switch so I'm pretty sure its not the switch.

What I find a bit odd is when in tape deck function and the band selector switch at the top I get radio!?
